Deluxe Modular is currently accepting applications for an Import Specialist to work as an integral part of our Procurement Team in Berwick, PA. The Import Specialist will be responsible for managing the end to end importation process from various countries outside the US to specified ports and ultimately to production facilities, in compliance with all applicable regulations and authorities. This position will report directly to the VP of Supply Chain.
Maintain a database and assign National Harmonized Tariff codes for building products from specified countries and regions.
Arranging air/ocean/road import shipments to include customs clearance, commercial invoicing and packing list requirements
Interact with Procurement, Production and Project Management to coordinate supply chain activities to eliminate supply chain disruption and reduce costs
Maintains schedule of all incoming international shipments including Air and Ocean, including tracking information
Maintaining product certification requirements as needed for importing
Ensure documentation is accurately processed, distributed, and released to carrier, customers and agents in a timely manner
Notes delays and provides any information needed to resolve them.
Aid with insurance claims for lost shipments by submitting shipment records and tracking data to insurance adjusters.
Determining and issuing duty, tax, and tariff payments for all imports and exports as needed.
Researching tariffs and determining best sourcing country based on cost
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current rules and regulations related to international trade
Work directly with import brokers to clear incoming shipments and address all attendant issues to ensure the timely receipt of products.
Coordinate domestic and international shipments of materials to factory from port of entry
Maintain a strong and professional relationship with airlines and transportation agencies

Requirements and Qualifications:
US Customs Brokerage License preferred
Understanding of entry procedures; entry requirements; valuation; fines and penalties; classification; and the rates, duty, taxes, and fees for imported goods
Knowledge on incoterms, customs clearance documents, general export/import shipping practices and other international export/import logistics information.
Possesses solid knowledge of U.S. import control regulations including U.S. Customs Regulations
Strong mathematical skills
