We are seeking a Staff Accountant at our corporate headquarters in Berwick, Pa to process financial activities of the company and its affiliates in such a manner as to protect the financial assets of the Company and to ensure accurate and timely reporting consistent with generally recognized and approved accounting practices and principles.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.

Experience:

A minimum of three years of experience with accounting responsibilities, or comparable business experience is required. In addition, a Cost Accounting and/or Financial Analysis background accompanied by familiarity with Sage 300 accounting software is a plus.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant is responsible to:

  • Prepare financial reports and month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Process and monitor accounts payable and receivable
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Ability to assist in preparing the books and records for examination by the Company’s outside accounting firm and submission to the company’s banks, and assist with the annual audit.
  • Ability to support the Accounting Manager during the performance of the annual audit to minimize audit fees.
  • Assist with preparation of requisite state and federal income tax returns for review by the Company’s outside accounting firm.
  • Assist in preparing financial projections and budgets and prepare monthly variance analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues, to discover ways to remove or work-around challenges and to make constructive service suggestions.
  • Ability to maintain technical competencies in generally accepted accounting principles, computers, and general corporate tax matters.
  • Maintain and coordinate accounting control procedures
